dish network tripod system

Is it possible to set up a dish on a tripod that could be pointed to either the western or eastern arc?
  • Assuming you have a clear "look" at both arcs, yes, it is possible to do it with a tripod mounted dish. With the smaller single LNB dish, it would be just a matter of changing the elevation and azimuth for each of the satellites you wanted to get programming from. With a multiple LNB dish, such as the 1000.2 or 1000.4, it would necessary to change the LNB set to one spaced properly for each three satellite arc. I do it regularly with my tripod mounted 1000.4, choosing which arc to use based on view limitations and which arc has the HD locals for the area. Changing the LNB only takes a couple of minutes, with just two small screws and a coax to remove and replace, along with resetting the elevation, skew, and azimuth settings for the selected arc.
  • I have a Winegard tripod for my Pathway X2 Dish antenna. This antenna is one of those 'golf ball' types.
