DISH Pay as you GO

Do you have to call dish to discontinue the pay as you go? Or does it automatically shut down if you don't pay the next month?

It does auto shut down. However, if you don't use the full month you can also call and have the disconnect the service. They will hold a credit on your account until you activate it again so you don't necessarily have to lose some unused days if you don't mind making the added effort to call.

Reason I asked, I'm getting emails from Dish about my account past due and I wasn't expecting that.

I too got the past due e mail-however when I phoned in they said to ignore them as they were a form for regular accounts -not pay as you go .

Don't know why you are getting a past due bill. I call after every trip and ask them to disconnect my service so I can save any remaining money. I have never gotten a bill that says I'm past due. You should probably call DISH and ask to speak with someone in the Loyalty Department (Essentially the supervisors) and see what's up. When you disconnect service be sure and not say you want to hold it. A hold charges you $5 per month, something not needed with a Pay-As-You-Go plan.

This issue has been reported many times by many Dish PAYG users. It is an accounting error but I would still call and have them fix it so it does not automatically get advanced to an actual credit issue.

Yes it is. As long as you own the receiver you can use an receiver Dish makes.

Thanks, my biggest hurdle was dealing with paying for a month but only using it for a 2 weeks. What about upfront, connecting when only two weeks are left in the billing cycle? Will they only charge you for the two weeks or the whole month?
