I have Dish and asked them about the Hopper/joey setup in an RV. For some reason they highly discourage it, so I just ended up with two VIP211z receivers, (about $75 each on Amazon)one for the bedroom and one for the living room. You can attach up to 3 receivers to the 1000.2, so I simply run two cables, one for bedroom and one for living room. I had the Tailgater and liked how quickly it can be set up, but it's not good if you channel surf, and it seemed to have more trouble locking on to satellites (~10 inch dish vs ~18 inch dish maybe?) Have been very happy with the tripod setup, and once you get the hang of it, it's not hard to setup. Invest in a small kit that has the level, satellite finder, etc.
Also, if you are able to find a way, run the cables directly to the receivers and avoid the onboard cable wiring. Too much signal loss, at least in my case. I found a way to feed the cable through the slide for one, and added a cable connection for the bedroom. The cable that comes with the antenna is good quality; make sure to get high quality cable if you make any additional runs/connections.
