Dish TV

I have Dish TV and am using a Wally receiver. What determines if a channel is HD or SD? The SD stations do not fill the screen. Any thing that can be done? Thanks

Dish determines if the channel is SD or HD. In addition they may show older SD video on a HD channel, but not much anymore due to the much lower quaity. SD is fading into history.
