No. You do not need to shut it down every night but as others said, it will not hurt.
Sorry but first, the HD does not spin constantly. It only activates when it is called upon for data. Sitting over night is not going to make a call.
I leave our media and data center on 24/7, with weekly restarts. The restarts are for updates and memory clearance. MS is not good at memory management and as others have said, your computer will slow down over time if not rebooted.
For power savings you can set it to sleep (monitor/HD) after x minutes of non use. You can also shut it off. It does not hurt.
