Does closing the laptop disconnect from wifi?

Thanks for the responses. I checked my settings and the laptop is set to "sleep" when the lid is closed, whether on battery or plugged in. The manager has, on occasion, shut the wifi off and then back on the first thing in the morning to clear the system. That's really inconvenient when you're on-line at the time. We're in a park for the winter so we really have no choice but to use the park's wifi most of the time, though we do use our phones as a hot spot when we do anything like banking, credit cards, etc. for a secure connection.
