You can pay for a Domain name of your own and set up a simple E-mail Reflector, This way it would be Bill at ChopperBill dot com or some such.
Or if you do not going to the tribble of passing a written multiple guess test you can get a ham license, then join ARRL (The www.arrl.org) and sign up for their reflector....
IT is good only so long as your dues are current however so one fellow member told me "The minute you get behind in your dues they cut you off"
I told him I've not paid dues since 1975 and they have not cut me off
(In 1975 I made the final payment and they approved my life membership).
