This doesn't explain why the speed is 40 to 50 Mb/s when connected to my cell phone hotspot.
Then, the speed is close to 100 Mb/s when ethernet connected to the router. The other puzzling part is that I have tried a different router with the same modem with same results.
All my other devices (phones, other laptops) connect to the router with expected speeds.
Is your router new or have the latest firmware on it? There may be a bug that only affects whatever protocol Win10 is using.
Two of my laptops are running Windows 10. Only one is affected.
I just replaced the router with a new one. I thought that to be the problem. Never checked, at that point, that the problem was only with this one laptop. Firmware was updated automatically when new device was installed.
Have you run disc clean up?
Do you have app such as "Spybot"? You can download this for free. It removes spyware and some malware.
When I connect the afflicted laptop directly to the modem it runs at speed near 100Mb/s.
I have run Malwarebyes, have, temporarily, stopped all firewalls but when running through the WiFi router or when connecting to the router at one of the ethernet outlets it slows down.
Anybody need a perfectly good Linksys router?
