You must be referring to the Dropbox app that is 88MB on my phone, but that is not excessive. The Google app takes 247MB. Of course it is if you don't want it nor need it and I'm glad you are happy without it.
And I have seen references to how cloud storage syncs a lot of data to all devices. This only happens if you want to allow it. Dropbox, Google Drive and I assume other cloud storage applications allow the user to only sync the data they want on their devices. I sync my grocery list for example.
For those that want to live in the tech world they are comfortable with, more power to them. But posters should take the time to understand a product before they disparage it. There is nothing intrusive with Dropbox if you take the time to understand it.
