To change the cabling to SWM, you would need a SWM8 and a Power Inserter (PI). The receiver's coax goes into the PI. The PI's coax goes into the SWM8. The SWM8's coax goes to the antenna. The PI requires a 110v outlet.
Slight tangent - we have an HR-44 receiver, which is SWM only. Our rooftop Winegard Trav'ler is going back to the factory for repair. I'll be adding n standard 18" portable dish to use til the big dish gets back. Does the LNB have to be a dual - two cables - to the SWM8 to enable multi-tuner use on the receiver?
As expected, this question was WAY over the head of the DirecTV tech person who answered the phone. Figured I'd ask here where there are actual knowledgeable people.
