DYI Antenna Mount--Red Neck style

1. 4x4 with screws added for snug fit to bumper. Hole drilled through center. Recessed hole for nut and washer.

2. 4x4 (SHORT) to hold antenna base.

3. Bolt tightened to secure 3/4" all thread from moving.

4. Dish base added (I am lacking one nut to secure it tight--Hdwr store monday.)

When tight and in place and PLUMB I will secure level.

Now I can adjust left and right with the antenna base and Fore and Aft with the 3/4" end nut. That will tighten the short 4x4 against the 4x4 inserted in either side of the rear bumper.
Red neck engineering to the rescue.
I just can't be headed straight into the satellite and I can't be where trees will interfere with line of site.

  • Red Neck style? It can't be, there's no duct tape or empty beer cans involved. :)

I just use one of these with a couple of 100-foot RG cables and move it to where it works best...

I usually sit it on my hard folding truck bed panel covers so that I remember to stow it away inside if I leave the camp site...

With the two long RG TV cables I run one to the front SAT RCVR and the other one to the Bedroom SAt TV Rcvr... The four high standoff pieces around the base lets me wrap the two 100-foot RG cables around the unit when stowed away... I have the SAT FINDER unit attached to the base

Did this for several years until the NATL BROADCAST Network came out with Digital TV a few years back. Now we just use our BATWING antenna to pick up the HDTV signals from the local towns... They work great for us now... Don't have to bring along our SAT TV items anymore...

  • That is a great design. I think however you may find the limited mobility to be troublesome when aiming the satellite. Can you easily move the dish to a tripod if needed?
