Another thing to keep in mind is that B&N is getting out of the tablet and eReader business. I don't know what effect this will have on their sale of eBooks.
X2 on using Calibre to manage the book collection. It's a free program and can even convert book files from one format to another in case you have both a Kindle and a reader that uses the ePub format.

Kobo Kobo sells readers of its own and a couple of them look like good values.
