I think what the OP is referring to is one is hard bound and one is on rings. The one on rings is much easier to use as you can fold the book over to stay on the page.
mine is soft cover but "bound". we use it with "tremendous" difficulty (that is sarcasm) but have not seen one with rings. yes that would be easier.
