Finally joined the Apple bandwagon!

I hope your mac adventure will not be too difficult. My own excursion into "mac land" was dreadful, and ended with a computer that only lasted....2 years.

Apple hardware is usually top notch ! Expensive, but good.

We are happy with iPhones and iPads. Marginally happy with our Mac at home. I must use a PC at work for form completion...lack of competition unfortunately.

Congratulations. My MacBook Pro 15" laptop has performed without a hitch for about eight years. Needed to add more memory three years ago.

rvparksreviews.com does not like Mac's Safari browser (unless something has changed recently), so I run Opera to look at rvparksreviews. The rest of the time, I prefer Safari.

Oh, I just looked at rvparksreviews with Safari, and it seems to work just fine now ! (Web pages used to take forever to download.)

there are ways to disable win 10 updates...google it. you're actually turning off the update service. once you turn the service back on you'll get whatever updates are in the pipeline. i'm still on win 7 and am staying there fir as long as i can. good luck with your mac.

I do everything on my iPad. Fast and easy. Up dates are few and they take no time at all to install

I feel the same way about windows products. They're a pain in the butt. Compared to anything Apple that I've had (phone, ipad) they are far inferior. But $2400 for a laptop...that's steep!

I love my MacBook. It is a 2008. It is still going strong. I have NEVER had a PC last that long. Neither has DH. He ends up replacing screens, adding memory, replacing hard drives, etc. He is really hard on them for some reason. This Mac I'm using is one I bought him for his birthday and he never used it. Didn't want to make the switch, so when my last PC died, I decided to give it a whirl. Absolutely love it.

But now, the operating system is old.. . it's been updated to the max and I use it for all my online banking. Because the OS can't be updated, it will no longer work with the bank's software, which they continually update.

So. . . . long story short. . . I bought a new MacBook (refurb) which is still in the closet awaiting setup. My current one is a refurb and it has NO problems, so when I get it cleaned off, it goes to my daughter who's Mac died after about 12 years. The only reason I haven't moved to the new one yet is because of wifi. When I get to my son's next week, I will use his screaming cable to get my programs installed. Also, since he is an internet security engineer, there is nothing that happens that he can't fix, so I will be in good shape once we leave there.

Learning curve with the new one. It uses only that new mini-USB, I think they call it, so had to get some adapters. NO CD rom drive, but already have a new one ready to plug in if I need it. . . mainly for music.

I love my Mac.

Refurbs are about half. I'm on my second. First one just couldn't be updated anymore, but still works great. Unless you use it for stuff that requires the newest update, you are good to go.

Just bought a new refurb. From Apple, it has the same warranties and you can buy Apple Care for 3 more years. They look absolutely brand new when you get them.

I recently discovered this utility for Windows 10 that simplifies disabling the Windows Update services:

Windows Update Blocker

It disables both Windows Update and Windows Update Medic Service.
