I know exactly where you are coming from, a windows update disabled my wifes wifi and it sounds like the same as your experience.
We each went to Mac Book Pros a couple of years ago, Zero regrets, very happy with the MacBook and the learning curve was not at all steep.
We have no problems what so ever with the laptops in any way, they work fine, just as they should each and every time, no surprises no problem. I think you will like your new MacBook
