Barney, hope you enjoy your new MacBook. I use both WIN and MAC pretty much equally everyday. There are quarks in both systems, though really have not had any real issues with either of them. I also tend to custom configure the hardware on my work iMAC and DELL Workstation, to max out performance. Though MAC hardware has become a nightmare to work on. Apparently, even our certified Apple techs are not allowed access to their factory diagnostic tools anymore. Though you will have access to their retail stores for help.
You can even run WIN 10 on your MAC as dual boot. Boot Camp is included with MAC OS X, though can cause issues when updating or installing new versions of Windows, which may dictate a re-install at times. So important to configure backups such as Time Machine.
My advice is don't jump on the bandwagon and install the newest MAC OS X version when first released, even-though you'll receive messages of it being available. Let the issues be worked out first. Though do install security patches when available. You'll also wont have the variety of apps available on PC, especially free ones. Though may not be an issue. Just make sure you have adequate security protection installed, a few are free in including Malwarebytes Free. No difference with any OS these days.
