Check Firefox properties by right-clicking its shortcut. You may have to click Open File Location first if prompted in WIN 8. Under Firefox Properties, make sure either "Run this program as administrator" or "Run in this program in compatibility mode" is not check-marked?
1492 - Just searched and found this same issue when I put FF on my Dell last year. And you gave me the same answer - worked then, and it works now. Checked the "admin" box, and unchecked "run in XP compatibility mode" which was checked.
So, don't know which box fixed it, but its fixed ... thanks again. :)
Also, uninstalled Norton Antivirus, and installed AVG Free, which I've used for years. With the Norton gone, it still showed the window, so that didn't help. But now, with the boxes checks per 1492, all set now.
Still don't like Wdw8 much - but will eventually gain necessary operating knowledge.
Only thing now, most of the PC is pretty fast, but the web browser loads up a bit slow? The FF timing button spins and spins, and eventually opens, and it works fine after that.
