Saving for retirement, yet a geek since even before I built my first HAM radio at about age 12, puts me a bit of a quandary. Yes, I would like one. But. Our two flip phones with Verizon (grandfathered plan), for ~ $55.00 per month just makes more sense ..... for us. The way I see it, it's all about priorities, and everyone needs to set their own.
Those that can afford a smart phone (or their own jet for that matter) should have one if they so choose. However, I would trust that they wouldn't then turn around and ask for financial assistance from those of us who are saving. And that folks is about as political as I should get here.
