For those that resist giving up their flip phone...

Some people change cars every three years
Changing phones is no different and is cheaper than changing cars, trucks, RVs
Nobody forces you too change vehicles
And nobody forces somebody to change phones
Updates are software...No Charge
Upgrade means new model...No need if yours does what you want
But faster CPUs larger brighter displays bring new features..
Some people want the newest and best
My phone is almost three model years old
Anything bigger will not fit in my pocket
But I would enjoy having a phone that uses the newest XLTE data technology
