Nah, I think I'll stick to my dumb phone and spend my money on fuel.
Why do you think it has to be phone or fuel? Hubby and I spend about $130/month on our unlimited data smart phones. Among other things, we use them to stream video for movies or tv shows we want to watch. We do not have cable or satellite TV, and I think the price is comparable.
The ones in favor of the dumb phones are ones who have never gotten used to having the entire world of information in their handbag. When we're going down the road and see something interesting, I can Google for more information before we reach the exit. ;)
When hubby gets tired and says find a place to park, I can check RV Park Reviews, Passport America and Overnight RV Parking from the road.
What's that gun owners say about cold dead fingers? At least mine will be well manicures. :C
I've got three kids, and four grandkids, all with smartphones. At family gatherings they all sit there with their phones in their hands constantly checking to see if they have gotten texts, messages, or if someone has just posted to their FB page. Yeah, that's a whole "world of information" there. And they love to access those stupid YouTube videos, usually of someone doing something abysmally ignorant. Or some really "cute cat videos". Gosh, I'm giving up all this by not having a smart phone.
Honestly, I cannot remember the last time I was out traveling and wished that I had internet access so I could look up some information on that last thing we just passed. If I'm really interested, I usually know it in advance, or if it's piques my interest enough I'll check up on it when we stop for the night. No biggie.
They have their uses, just not enough to justify the price tag.
That's ok, everyone has different ideas of what they need. :) I wouldn't waste my money on Direct TV but I know people who say they can't live without it.
Those who love their flip phones, great! More bandwidth for me. ;)
