As part of the Porkulus plan in 2009 under the last administration they granted several Million dollars locally for a rural high speed system, was supposed to be LTE based and was funded under a tobacco country farm grant.
Initial promises were for 10-15 meg speed with unlimited data for about $35 a month throughout a 5 county area.
They finally got part of the system working, but rural? NO
they cut back to only installing antennas on 4 towers, one located in each of the four towns in the central area.
Operators go where they can reach the highest population density, even though they will have to compete with cable and DSL.
Oh, and they have capped the data now at 15 Gig a month and dont understand why nobody signed up.
