My wife is on her third Kindle Fire. Both of the first two got to a stage where the charging port became defective. Amazon replaced the first one free of charge, The second one was long out of warranty, but they offered to sell her a refurbished unit for $70. The replacement is actually a second generation Fire. Each time Kindle Service was fantastic.
