Fueling and GPS

Is there a GPS unit out there that can help you find a place to fuel up ? I know Garmin and the rest have the RV GPS models that you put your info in on the size of your Trailer and such. Do these also find gas stations that you could fit into to get Gas ?

If not hwi di you pick your fueling stations for gas ?

  • I look at the satellite view of a gas station before I get there. Easy to do on a smartphone.

Gas Buddy finds you area gas stations and the best price (or worst if that's what you want) but can not tell you if they are RV FRIENDLY.

FOr the most part the big Truck Places (Flying-J/Pilot Loves and T/A) are RV friendly (Few exceptions and Flying-J's also generally have special RV lanes with both D and G. and RV parking overnight (And a Denny's as opposed to a Fast Food place like Arby's or Wendy's) Generally (not always)

MY PILOT will find Flying-J and Pilot
    Loves has an app
And I suspect TA does as well.

I use 'em when I do my migration trips.
  • My best bet would be to look for these truck stop places and not try to stretch the the fuel tank to far. My wife is very smart till it comes to tech. She still has trouble with cell phone operation.Reading a map ? Well forget that one also.
So when on the road it's up to me to drive and navigate and everything else. Just thought how handy it would be if there was some kind of app. that just pointed things like RV friendly fuel stops.
  • K Charles said_When we need gas I just stop at a station and fill up. There are gas stations everywhere.
Have you ever driven across the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming on state roads. When you get off of the interstate, you better know how far your gas/diesel is going take you. I had a Toyota MH with a total range of 240 miles, we carried 5 gallons of gas just in case.
I pulled into a gas station in Frankfort, KY thinking that I could drive forward to get out, I ended up having to back out into traffic.
