Looking to buy a new GPS soon. Does anyone out there own the Garmin Nuvi 465LMT? Looks like it might be a good fit for me. I have an older Garmin but need something more suited to my MH. I know that Magellan and others make "RV GPS's" but I really like the features of the 465. Any information appreciated.

I've been thinking of replacing our older Garmin with their new RV 760LMT. It's currently on pre-order, so I was waiting to see reviews by others before buying.

We have owned a 465T for two years and it has done a pretty good job. There's only one aspect of using it that may be improved upon by the new RV 760 and that's what happens when a route you want to use is truck-restricted but not RV-restricted. Sometimes truck-restricted roads are unsuitable for large vehicles, in general, so staying off them is a good thing. On occasion, however, you encounter roads that are truck-restricted because the town or whatever doesn't want commercial vehicles on them but RVs would be OK. The 465T can't make that distinction, the newer Garmin RV GPS can.This issue did create a bit of a nuisance for us one time when it turned out that the CG we were headed to was on a truck-restricted road so the Garmin was trying to get us to the CG by minimizing the distance we traveled on that road. However, in doing so it was leading us "hither and yon" on some pretty narrow and winding roads that didn't happen to be truck-restricted. When we finally gave up and switched the GPS to "car" mode it suddenly said something like "turn at the next corner and you'll be at your destination".:SBut that was only one time in ~25,000 miles of driving so I can't get all that upset about it, not enough to replace it. The new GPS has lots of RV-related points of interest built-in, but with a smart phone these days most of that sort of stuff is readily available IMHO.

We had the same experience as docj with our 465T. I always compared the route it chose with Google maps or a paper map before accepting it as gospel. Once it refused to route us correctly to the Grand Canyon North area since those roads are truck restricted. It kept trying to make us take the back forest roads which are all gravel! Since I always made sure the route was what I wanted before we departed I never had a problem but it did make spur of the moment changes in route less likely. We used it for two years traveling all over the Southwest and Northeast before getting the RVND7720 by Rand McNally for the current trip. I like it much better though it has a very steep learning curve. It is programmed for an RV and has much better points of interest in it as well.

I purchased the Garmin 3590LMT. Only used it a few times. I find the maps on my smart phone works much better. It is auto updated more often and seems a lot more accurate. I use the "low clearance" app and "aitaonbline.com" for my tunnel and bridge clearance. Plus the truckers atlas. JMHO

This has been exactly our experience as well. Really like the 465T, but it's inability to tell the difference between commercial truck and RV routing has led us on some pretty convoluted routes. For this reason and a few others, I've pre-ordered the Garmin RV 760LMT (not to be confused with the DEZL 760LMT). The ability to connect it to my iPhone's wifi hotspot for real time weather displays is another. Too bad it won't get here before we head out to the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Black Hills tomorrow morning...
This is one of the reasons I wanted to replace our 465 too. The truck route problem can be a real hassle at times. I don't really want the 7 inch screen since I listen to it and try not to divert my attention from the road to check my GPS screen. The 7 inch screen sure looks like it could be a distraction from the road.
