Google CAPTCHA message ??

Question

When trying to use Google search (just recently) a message appears
which is called CAPTCHA with a squiggly word with a box below it,
to enter and clear the above.

Never have had that before - and not about to try it or a link which
is included.

Unfortunately, it's like the Energizer Bunny - just keeps coming up (now) on anything entered in Google search.

Calling up that info (by using Yahoo search) a "Google" site claims
it's to verify you are not a robot.
Supposedly entering the word and it will clear.

Of course, no way to verify *that* information is "legit".

Soooo has anyone had experience with this?...:h

BTW - virus (etc) scan shows - none

I see and use them all of the time. You're right, the site is checking to see if you're a robot. I've never heard of using one that led to problems. The main problem is sometimes trying to read the number or word they want you to enter. If you can't read it, usually there's a button to click on for them to give you another one to see if you can read it.

Google does this from time to time. They think the search is automated. Most of the time just clearing your browser cache(history) will make it go away. If not enter the info and go on. If you really hate it use another search engine like Yahoo or Bing. They do not use it.

i hit captcha on a lot of sitesbut i don't remember getting it on googleand i do a lot of google searchesbut then i do use gmail and have a browser window open on that most of the timeplus my android devicesso i'm already tracked and verified

Thanks for the replies!After reading some info on it, seems it is simply an anti-robot "device".Like everyone, I had entered the word "codes" for various sites, etc.in the past - but *never* had that one with Google.(And had used Google searches for years on this same laptop)As one of the sites indicated - it just goes away by itself, which it did. (I have used Google since).If it shows up again, I'll "bite" - and enter the req'd word.:C
