Google maps no display

Google maps will not display on my Dell laptop computer (Windows 7) if I use maps.google.com. It will only display if I go to Google and type "Google maps Los Angeles".. like that. Then I'm presented with a maps link which does work. But, if I access maps directly with my link which has been working for years, I get a blank page. This started about a week ago.

I've searched everywhere.. even put a post on their help board.. nothing. I've cleaned up the cache, rebooted.. all that stuff. Maps still works on my Samsung netbook, as I was beginning to suspect Verizon, my ISP.

Any tips on what may be wrong?
  • I just tried the return link you got and it ends up in the niddle of the ocean with a blue screen (obviously). And I have to zoom WAY out to see where I am.

So... I think you need to completely clear the cache on the PC so it quits going back there.
  • Yes, it works with IE. I have cleared the cache.. a couple times.
  • Make sure you manually refresh the page in FF. Sometimes FF keeps loading a previously loaded page.

Also- Google Maps recently (last week or so) changed the whole site. Look for a box on the page that says something like "Classic Google Maps". The new look is terrible and took away all of the easy to find map settings and wants to force Google Earth view.

If all else fails, download a new copy of FF. Totally uninstall your current install and then go into the FF folders and delete them. Then install FF all over again and start fresh.
  • I have had trouble with Google maps also for the last few days. Firefox and Google. I think one of the problems is they are rolling out new maps and pushing a "preview". All they have done so far is screw it up for me.
  • I loaded that link up again and it sure looks like the hemispherical coordinates are wrong. Once I corrected, that point ended up on a ridge on the west coast as opposed to the south Atlantic. I still think the cache somehow hasn't been flushed.

It would appear that's the case, but I've flushed it. I think I'll just use google for now and wait and see if it gets fixed.
