I assume by asking five questions that we are supposed to gain some insight into the state of apps for portable devices? Is that a trick question about the 75%? I know that Android apps are available directly from the creator. Is that not true of Apple? What apps make one platform superior to the other? I am not talking hardware. Another four questions.
I understood the thread to be about the number of downloads - Google Play vs Apple App Store.

Google Play store is seeing 2.5 billion downloads a month vs. the App store at 2 billion a month. It's a mathematical certainty that the Play store will surpass the App store in total downloads within months.
Google Play Store to surpass Apple App Store's 50 billion in downloads within months
Developer's are still developing their apps first for iOS with Android as a second choice. Hopefully, as Android becomes more and more dominant, that trend will reverse itself.

The whole point is that iOS started out with a HUGE lead, Android has been playing catchup over the years and is now poised to finally overtake iOS (at least in number of downloads as well as total number of available apps).
It stikes me that my first two questions are important in understanding the relative number of downloads. If Android has 40% of the installed hardware base, then the download comparison is huge. If, on the other hand, Android has 65% of the installed base, the download comparison looks different.
I though my other questions were of some import relative to downloads from Google Play and Apple App Store. I don't see how you can interpret, "What about revenue?" as a trick question, not do I understand what your question, " I know that Android apps are available directly from the creator. Is that not true of Apple? " has to do with the topic,
Google Play vs Apple App store. BTW, the 75% number came from
