GPS phone App for RVs

We're fairly new to RVing and bought a 34' Monaco Safari Simba. Our 2nd trip out, using google maps gps on my phone, we encountered a low bridge and had to take a 10 mile detour in unfamiliar territory. So I'm looking for a gps app that I can put on my phone that is geared to rving, looking out for low bridges, poor dirt roads, etc.

Co-pilot has one for $40 that is for RV navigation, and I wonder if any of you out there use this and can recommend it, or would recommend something different? Would prefer not to buy a separate stand-alone gps.

  • I still miss Strips and Treets and Street Alas. Furkot is close, but it is an on-line app that is no good for navigation underway.

All that said, can anybody tell me if Co-Pilot RV can do the recommended End of Day and Fuel Stop that those two could?

If it is true that chart (map) updates are free, then the 40$ is a good deal if it does the other.

I am still beating my last copy of SA, but the charts are now so bad that I have to confirm some areas with Google before using that day's leg.

+1. MCA is invaluable for general trip planning as you can see the big picture and use gps, computers, etc for fine tuning.

  • Howdy!

We fulltime and I’ve been using Co-pilot gps app for several years without problems and it has kept us safe in our travels. I use it on my tablet when towing out 5er and on my phone when in the Smart Car. The nice thing is you never have to buy a gps again. I use the same app on both tablet and phone and when I get a new device I just load the app. Free map upgrades. I’ll never buy another stand alone gps.

I have had just about all of them. I even have a built in Kenwood in the dash and it uses Garmin.

I find Copilot the best and that is all I use. I have it on my Ipad mini and it sits on the dash on a suction cup mount. You won't be sorry with that app.

    X2.
