Grundig shortwave radio

I have seen these on the shelf at radio shack for years, around $100 dollars. Anybody have one? What would you use it for? How far away can it reach, and what would you be listening to? Does it pick up radio stations and broadcasts? Wondering if it would be an interesting camping tool for a rainy day?

  • It is true you won't hear as much on the short wave radio but still a lot out there. Much of the stuff that went way was ships at sea using morse code. Depends on what you want or expect to hear on the HF bands.
  • Carried one for years when I traveled for work. Especially in europe I coyld get bbc news in english. Now it is in storage never used
  • Shortwave is almost dead.
The only stations worth listening to (BBC) are now internet only.
If you understand Spanish then you will hear a lot from South America.
