D.E. Bishop, You need to stop throwing $ at this issue. Unless you plan on not being alive, in a 3 or 4 years, I suggest you try to accept/deal with / learn the newer operating system. (Win 10) If you don't do this, it a few short years when you are even older and even less capable, be forced to deal with a new operating system and at that point you won't have the ability to do so. Stop snibbling now, stop throwing $ at that PC and just go with Win 10.
Your other option is to have the hard drive on that laptop wiped and a full version of Win 7 installed on it. This is an easy process if you have the know how and the full version of Win 7. In your case you will be throwing even more $ at that laptop (for a technician)which is nonsensical. In closing, don't be so resistant to change, to moving on with technology. Don't be like so many here.
