Handheld GPS Unit For GeoCaching

I'm looking for advice or input about a handheld GPS unit to be used for basic geocaching.

I guess I'd like to stay under $150.00 if possible.

Any advice?

  • You can use a smart phone with a 10 dollar app however it will eat up the battery pretty quick.

Look for a Garmin 62 series. Back around Christmas they were on sale for 199. That is an excellent unit

You can also go to the forums on the Geocaching Web Site and read what everyone else is using.

I have an old Garmin 60Csx which is obsolete and I'll sure hate to see it go.
  • My daughter uses her smart phone and gets everyone she's gone for. Although I not sure how well it would work if you don't have Cell reception.
  • I use a Garmin, Oregon 450. It will cost a little more than $150 but well worth it. Check on the internet for the lowest price.
