Dump the cables!!!
We use wireless all the time in the 5er. use the PC/Laptop where convenient, wireless printer in the bedroom. Modem and wireless router, in a sealed tub at the power pedestal. No stinking cables into the 5er, OP stated wireless is working and is faster than the DSL service.
