Almost nobody turns off or hides the wireless signal from a WAP when a computer is hardwired and it doesn't sound like the OP even knows about it. So, how is the security better when the wireless signal is still active even if the computer is hardwired?
As mentioned, its the MiM thats the danger. A favorite strategy used by hackers on wireless signals. With no packets transferred via wireless, then no critical info to sniff.
