Did you bother to read my post? I said it is possible, but also extremely unlikely. Gifted crackers don't go around and sniff packets on the odd wifi just on the off chance that they might come across something interesting.
If it were as common as you would lead one to believe then you could easily cite several instances from the people around you, as could anyone else. However you can't because it just doesn't happen that often.
But you keep wearing that tinfoil hat, and believe all the stuff you read. :) And then come back with one verifiable instance of someone you know having their wifi traffic intercepted and their LAN compromised. Something tells me it could be a very long wait. :)
