Maybe I missed your point. I thought you were comparing an ethernet connecton and wifi and making the comparison that the wifi connection is the same as leaving your doors unlocked and completly unprotected. I appologize if I read that incorrectly.

It all goes back to a statement made here about "Removing one extra layer of possible exploit when using WiFi. Though encrypted, gives a hacker an extra doorway to work with."

The claim wasn't that WiFi was an open door, nor was it a claim that Ethernet was a perfect solution. It was a simple statement that using Ethernet provides better security, which is true, and can be done with minimal effort.
