When my iPod Touch battery went I dumped all my music onto my Android phone. I then kept the iPod Touch plugged in (since if you have no power to the unit, everything in memory is lost) and dumped all of my Christmas music on it. I keep it plugged in and hook it up to amplified speakers every Christmas and play Christmas tunes from it.
IMHO Apple made a bad decision not to let people get into these units to do things like replace the battery or increase the memory. Also, I forgot to mention that you can't upgrade these older iPods OS because of the chip set that they used. Again, IMHO, another bad move on Apple's part. But at least I am still getting some use out of my old iPod.
