HDMI splitters with DirecTV

I really like Tripp Lite but the price on that splitter is really high.

The same chips go into the cheap ones and the pricey ones

Lots of 4 port splitters for around $20

You will need the SMW8 hardware plus a PI 29 to make a Carryout work with a Genie (or any SWM only receivers). You will still be stuck with watching satellite TV in SD only and in a year or so you might not be watching TV at all with that setup but only time will tell.

SO WRONG! The Genie creates its own network. To setup a Genie wireless system, all you need is a Genie, either HR44 or HR54, a video bridge, and up tp five mini Genies. The video bridge sends the signal to the minis. I take my Genie and wireless system with me every time I leave the house. No network connection at stale parks.
Geeze, please listen to me. All the poor fella needs is the correct Genie, a video bridge, and two or three minis, one for each TV not connected to the main Genie. From this point he will need to do some coax cabling to get the signal from the dish to the back of the Genie, with a splitter to send a signal to the video bridge.

Yes, WIFI connection required. NO, internet connection NOT required. No, you don't want or need 2 Genies. Apparently we all just need to listen to Don! There is not a Genie and a Genie 2 so you are getting bad info (except from Don). There are 3 Genie's but these are all just generational updates. There was the HR34, HR44 and the current HR54.

I was just on the Directv web site and there now is a Genie2. It apparently now has a built in video bridge, and supports recording up to 8 programs at once.

You are a little behind times Bill. The New Genie 2 satellite receiver has no connection or output to a TV and is dedicated to providing services to its Genie clients like Genie Mini and Wireless Genie Mini receivers.

The OP would be better of with a older Genie that has the HDMI outputs.
My HR34 feeds 3 TV's through a HDMI switch from Amazon.

Just saw they have one in 4 out. Are you using with DirecTV?

I don't know if they make any others, I haven't looked. I needed this for a specific purpose, and it works very well.

I am not using it with DirecTV, we are using it for digital signage.

I have read that some splitters will not work correctly if all connected devices are not turned on, but this one did, so I shared it with you.

It turns out I got the HR44-500 and it does have 1 each HDMI, RCA A/V, and component outputs. So I have the same configuration I had with the old HR21-700. The only problem I have now is there is no sound on the TV running with the component output. Haven't had time to troubleshoot that problem much. I will try changing the cables out first. The plus is I no longer have to have the HDMI TV on for the other 2 to work as I did before.

component video does not carry audio on the three connections there has to be a separate audio cable for audio with it. sounds like you missed a connection on that tv.
