HDMI TO COAXIAL CABLE

Wanting to hook up to a directv or dish satelitte receiver which has hdmi outlet and hook up with present coaxial cable to amplified video distribution switch, winegard model vs-604/vs-612. Believe i need a RF modulator or any other suggestions?
This is in a 2004 Endeavor, factory installed system to my televisions, etc. Have a KVH Trac Vision SF Roof Satelitte Unit
with the original Directv receiver which had two coaxial terminals. Replace receivers only come with hdmi outlets.
Please advise, any suggestions.
Thank you

  • You might want to consider a wireless HDMi system instead of running HD content on coax.
  • I have HDMI to coax converter and back for the kitchen TV. HD quality. For multiple TV's you'll need a HDMI splitter.

    Wireless units are also available.

    Check Amazon for starters.

HDMI over coax will be cheaper and far more reliable than any HD "wireless" system. Starts at about $100

    HERE

Wireless HDMI extenders start at $150..

    HERE

Wireless systems "share" the 5ghz band frequencies which also happens to be same frequencies as Wifi 5ghz access points so will be subject to interference..

I would choose the coax version before resorting to wireless..

There are several products ranging in price all over
Some of the lower (less than 100 dollar) I'd ignore
Some of the 250 range look.. Decent
I don't do this however (I do do HDMI to Composit but that is not an HD job)

    Google: hdmi to coax adapter
  • Are your 2004 TVs original and hence SD? If so and you intend to remain with SD TVs that can affect the type of adapter you use.

HD TVs have significantly improved resolution and should be considered IMHO.
