How can I improve wi-fi at rv parks?

Most, if not all, the rv parks I've stayed at have only intermitten wi-fi signals. These are private parks, KOA parks, and a FEW resort rv parks. How can I get better/more consistent reception? Would like your ideas. Thanks.

Use your phone to provide wifi to your computer. You don't need a mifi unless you are running more computers than you have phones.

We solved our weak WIFI signal problem by getting a VERIZON MIFI unit. It works anywhere you can get VERIZON CELL PHONE service and creates its own secured WIFI Hotspot that will work with five of your wifi enabled devices at the same time.

Don't have to worry anymore about all of the WIFI places scattered here and there.

  • The repeater will help with the signal. It won't help if the problem is their system. The usage is so high that the system can't handle it. Some parks provide a "metered" system which only allows you so much access. We stopped depending on parks wi-fi.
  • Mr Wizards idea works, but if you are only running one computer, an Alfa us036NHR. It is both a more sensitive receiver and more output power than any built in 802.11x thing. I often could work with AP I could not even see.

  • Just be aware that even if you boost the signal strength, you may still find the park wifi of minimal use due to limited bandwidth. Not unusual to have very good signal and very slow wifi.
  • Use a Wi-Fi repeater inside the RV with an external antenna outside the RV as high as possible
The repeater acts as a go between router between your pc/laptop and the park Wi-Fi...like an amplifier
