how do you pack your DirectTv dish for travel

I am using a tripod mount dish for our DTV service, coming up is the first time we had used it since I set it up. I have one of the foldy arms, so the profile is fairly flat, except for the mount to the tripod.

for those with similar systems, where do you put the thing during travel? I have room above my genset in the front compartment, but don't want it pounding on the metal enclosure over all the highway bumps. thinking of a cargo net to hold it up out of the way.

this is a 2013 Alpine 3720fb FW

OP, sounds like you are trying to store the big slimline dish? Contrary to what Direct and many others says, I do not use the big slimline dish for HD. The old 18x20 multi sat dish with a SL3 lnb on it will fit in my engine compartment or over a rung on the ladder is not going very far. It uses my old (paid for) tripod. Many installers may still have this dish in their junk pile.

If you are in a northern area of the country you may need the big slimline dish to get strong enough signals on 99 and 103.
  • I mount mine on the ladder. I can't remember the name of the company that makes the bracket but will look later if someone else doesn't chime in.
