How do you secure your Dish Tailgater

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Dish Tailgater. I was wondering how those of you who have one secure it both against theft and wind. I have seen some photos of tailgaters that have a D-ring attached to the handle but mine does not. There is a small through hole on the handle boss that you might thread a 1/4" cable through and secure it that way. I'm interested how some of you do it with pix if possible. Thanks
  • We have a mounting bracket that keeps it at the top of our ladder on the back of the 5th wheel. Hubby used a strong cable and lock with that. Keeps the honest guys honest and all the rest will steal it anyway.
  • People go nuts worrying about about locking these up, but leave a thousand bucks worth of bicycles lying around. I guess it would depend on where you are.
  • Go to your local hardware store or big-box Home Depot/Lowes and buy some vinyl coated wire cable. They will also have available an accessory for creating a loop in each end of the cable. Put one loop end through the handle and padlock through the loop and back over the cable. Do the same at the other end of the cable to a tree, campground picnic table, RV, or tow vehicle. Buy however much feet of cable you think you will need. It won't stop a serious thief, but will deter the grab and go.
  • I'm going on 4 years with my VuCube, which is an older version of the Tailgater. I have yet to have anyone touch it, or even knock it over. If I have line of sight to the satellites, it stays on the ladder mount of my coach. Here, in New England however, CG's tend to be heavily treed, so most often it's on the ground wherever I can get a signal.

Agreed don't worry about it. It is not a high theft item. I have owned a VuQube 2000 for years without issue.
Most thieves don't know what it is. There is very little black market for the device.
Leave your worries home and enjoy yourself.
I camp as a means to escape the rat race for awhile, just the idea of attaching the cable ruins my experience.
I have placed my VuQube in clearing 100 yards away out of view without any worry.
