It's a broad question with many variables, whether software corruption or a hardware issue. Also depends on how old it is; does it have sufficient ram etc. Is the battery still taking a charge? I use to tear all mine apart and fix them, but the last time it went down I took it to a local mom and pop computer store, and they fixed it beautifully with a new SSD and a reinstall of the OS all for $200 bucks and I've been very pleased. You probably need to make the decision if the specs are good enough to keep it going. There are guys on here a lot better than me who might give you some ideas.
