We have Netflix and Amazon Prime at home and find that there are good series on both that aren't available elsewhere. They use our Wifi router. The Wifi in campgrounds is way too limited in bandwidth to stream anything. Paying Verizon for downloads would be prohibitive. So my question is whether any of you folks have been able to stream video while in your RV's onto a TV set, and if so, how.I see in other threads that AT&T is offering unlimited data to a phone if you have DirecTV (which I do) and go with their phone service (which I'd rather not). I have a Samsung Note 5 and my wife an iPhone. Anyone know if that would work somehow?

The problem comes for us that only VERIZON has the coverage almost everywhere where the others do not... I think the others are getting better with nationwide coverage but still doesn't work as good as Verizon at the places we go to here on the East side of the USA.The shinning light of course was the MILLENICOM setup but VERIZON bought them out and then promptly shut down all of the high available dataplans... In our camping mode we are just able to get enough data from VERIZON MIFI setup to check emails, keep in touch with the kids, and pay a few on-line bills. This is all done using the grandfathered VERIZON MIFI 3GB 'hotspot' dataplan for around $30 a month... Now we have to pay VERIZON an additional $20 per line extra with our smart mode cellphones on our account. Only one of my account cellphones has a working 'HOTSPOT' feature which never goes camping with us. Stays with the kids at home.Kept hoping someone would figure out how to offer cheap data available to most of the USA areas but hasn't happened for us at any rate...We have never had any luck depending on the available WIFI hotspots connected with the various campgrounds. The start out working good but goes south real quick when the campgrounds start filling up after dark. Our shinning light has been the VERIZON MIFI HOTSPOT coverage.Now VERIZON has decided to start charging higher usage fees hoping I'm guessing to clear out all of us grandfathered guys...Since the scheme of things looks like it may be going back to having lots of down streaming data once again like T-MOBILE is offering perhaps it may get back to the way it was only a few years back with more usable unlimitied data available for safe down-streaming of things.Still hanging in there haha... Thank goodness the digital mode 'FREE to Public' CLEAR HDTV still works pretty good using the OTA BATWING antenna pointing at the local towns. We get enough of those channels to satisfy our HDTV and Movies needs... There is also DVD players... Roy Ken

If you use Google you will discover there are various methods you can use to record Netflix etc -- that way you don't have to worry about streaming on the road - we just take a memory stick with the shows we want to watch. Worth a look.

We don't stream while on the road but when we're parked for a while we arrange cable internet or dsl.

Personally I think the industry has gotten the cart ahead of the horse. Streaming should have never been allowed on open public wifi until the bandwidth was available and that could be years away. As you might suspect I don't do much streaming myself. I'm a programmer and heavy Internet user. But the amount of bandwidth I use is nothing compared to streaming video and even music. I don't expect free Internet for my professional use. Besides it's too unreliable due to people trying to stream... I have my own hotspot when I'm camping, which costs $120 month for 20gb. That's without cell phones. I have tried Netflix on my hotspot and it works pretty well. But if I remember, it was using about 800mb per hour. So, 25 hours of watching would use up my 20gb.

We have unlimited data on both of our Iphones through ATT. We can stream in full HD to any TV using a lightening connector (about $50.00). We have very good luck with this almost everywhere except where we park in the RGV for the winter.

Amazon does allow download for offline use for some programs. Mhl adapter works on almost everything except NFL network.

Verizon is the last feather in the cap for us but I'll wait until we are ready to hit the road to switch one of the Cricket phones over cus the big V isn't cheap.

In Canada things are much worse regarding data.

My personal solution is:

5 gigs from Koodo (wholly owned by Telus, so national coverage) $60
5 gigs from Telus (on a dongle) $10 (piggybacked on a cell phone)
10 gigs from Sasktel (supposedly unlimited but throttled to 256 k after 10) I'm grandfathered in $80 (national coverage)

Almost all of my data use is tethered.

Basically I can use up all my data in 3 days or less--so I save the dongle for business use.

I do have three cell phones so my bill per month is around $200.

I do spend lots of time in places that have free wifi such as the local library.

If T-mobile starts offering binge on in Canada I could see myself dropping one cell phone, and getting one from them, even with the low Canadian dollar.

I guess I am pretty lucky my wife and I both have verizon unlimited data plans. When there is no verizon service we have an AT&T hotspot. I put roku's on all the tv's and i have a slingbox at home so I can stream any movie I download from my home pc, watch anything on my home verizon fios dvr with the slingbox, and have access to anything on the roku like netflix.

I asked 4GAS if Binge On continues to run at it's normal speed after I hit my data cap and am throttled. They said throttling will have no effect on the streaming at all. So I can use the 5 gigs the first day and still stream the other 29.

If you have Binge on on a phone you can use a MHL adapter to send HDMI to a TV. I have one for my Galaxy S4 and it works great. ( a work around for those unlimited phone plans)

I bought a Tablet last year and it has a mini HDMI port on it to send video to the TV. I haven't found the right cord to test it yet.

It says for business accounts and I called to find out what they wanted, he said just the name will do. 10 minutes later I was signed up with a hotspot on it's way. I bought mine from them because it will be ready to go when I get it with lifetime replacement. You can get a compatible hotspot from Bestbuy if you prefer.

Many tablets have a digital video aka micro HDMI port
So they can be connected to a tv to watch video
Both my old Motorola Zoom and my new Lenovo tablet have this port
And many tablets come in a cellular connect version

There was at one time, a tablet version of Foxfi
I don't know if it's still around,
I never had a tablet on cellular to try it out
