Malware is going to get delivered by a script as well and then stealth itself as a system service or hide behind something ambiguous like the Windows Command Processor.
Gordon you sound like a better geek than me. But yes, it has to be a running process to be detected. The article I read seemed to believe that the majority are, but I would defer that to you. Maybe like Trojans, virus, worms etc I would think would be actively running. Or would it be that it does not detect delivery, only when it activates ?
