I can't get my local channels on directtv

When I travel east from Denver, I can't get my local channels. I think Direct TV told me it is because my locals are not on 101. Can I get a different LNB that will pick up 101 and 99 at the same time like it does when I am in Colorado? I think my locals are on 99.
  • Roy loves to come in here and post off topic information about OTA reception. I don't know if one of the satellite providers really made him mad and it's it GOAL to TELL EVERYONE that OTA programming is available for free. The reality is that very little of the programming AVAILABLE via satellite or cable is AVAILABLE via OTA. Everyone has their own priority and you need to chose limited programming for free or nearly unlimited programming that you must pay for.

A good back-up plan is to use your OTA BATWING antenna and pick up the NATIONAL BROADCAST system from the local towns near where you are located.

These stations CBS-NBC-ABC-FOX-PBF are transmitting in full high def HDTV mode and FREE to the public.

Goto to your TV menu and select ANTENNA and then point to the local town that is transmitting the Natl BROADCAST digital signals... Be sure to push the button on the antenna wall panel.

Then log-in all of the digital HDTV signals. We usually get 6-36 digital stations just about everywhere we go.

    Always need a back-up...

  • Hopefully, you understand you can't get the Denver programming once you leave the Denver market area no matter what type of antenna you use. Each local Network market programming is spot beamed so you can get Denver when you are in Denver or Chicago when you are in Chicago (after calling to change your service location) but you would never be able to get Denver while you were in Chicago.
  • You have a service address & a mailing address....The mailing one does not change....but the service address is where you are parked. You have to change the service address and call DTV to get locals where you are parked...If you travel full time, it's $5 a month to get locals where you are parked...otherwise you can get east coast and west coast feeds for ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. If you are in Wichita, Ks and plug in the Ks zip code, you will get Witchita locals, not Denver...but when I was in Ouray, CO, I got Denver locals as it was the closest to where I was parked
  • If you get them in your unit while at home, and travel away and don't get them , it is because you have left your spot beam area.
  • Oval dish with a triple lnb. Bit if your kore than 150 miles from home you still wont get any locals
