I got brave.

I have been reading most all of the posts about using/setting up a tripod/dish for rv use.

I have a D-12-100 Direct TV reciever and a 3 LBN Multi-Satellite Oval dish.

I have remove and setup this dish several times, on going remodel inside and outside etc, with NO problems, about a 1/2 hour later I have a 90% or better reading etc.

I remove the sat dish and placed it on a 3' high tripod, (have over 30' extra cable from the OEM install).

I tried for over 3+ hours to get this dish set up with no signal etc. I can replace the dish at it's install area/site and have perfect signals etc.

I have to be doing something wrong some where?
I just can't find out where.

Does anyone one have a site where I can get the satellite locations for Direct TV, in Western NV, at 40/118 lon/lat. I know how to use a compass/inclinometer etc.

Tia,
Don
  • Yep, I sure do. Works perfect with the extra 30' pigtail.

It is something with the tripod set up?

What are the Direct TV Sat numbers for Western NV?

  • Put it back where it works and after you get a signal add that extra cable without moving the dish. Do you still get a signal with that cable added?

    Might try here

I just tried this link for fun and it is way off for my address, about 5 degrees off on elevation and 10 degrees off on magnetic azimuth. Maybe I did something wrong, but I don't think so and I tried it three times.
