I've been playing with all this cell booster and wifi booster stuff for a few months.
I have two WiFi booster systems. The TechnoRV / ALFA36 is permanently mounted in the camper and a Ubiquiti system is in a Pelican case that I take on business trips.
There is a write up on the ALFA system on my web site www.rvbprecision.com
And here is a great thread on the under $100 Ubiquiti system

Here is what I've found......
Campground WiFi is not too bad during the day or before 8AM. Once folks get up in the morning or return after exploring in the evening, fagetaboutit! No bandwidth.
But I find in many RV parks there is a McDonalds or another restaurant with great WiFi that the booster can reach out and touch. I've used this scenario a number of times. It really helps to use a 16' painters pole to get the WiFi anteena as high as possible.
I find when on the road and I need to use WiFi (I work out of my trailer many times), I can pull into a shopping center parking lot and find lots of fast WiFi. The booster allows me to be upwards of a half mile from a McDonalds, Starbuck, Panera Bread, etc with excellent performance. I have Xfinity cable service at home so this allows me access to hundreds of thousands of hotspots in any region Xfinity operates in. This works fantastic in the Northeast.
The portable system finds service in lots of hotels where my room might be on the fringe of the WiFi system......or I can reach out to a wifi node that doesn't have the traffic like the one I can connect to. Also when in the rental car, I can do a bit of business in the parkinglot like above and not take up a table at a busy restaurant. Once again, Xfinity is used often. I find this portable WiFi booster on of the best travel tools I've yet to utilize.
I have a Verizon and a Sprint hotspot. Sprint is nearly useless. My contract expired next month and it will not be renewed. Horrible service everywhere in the country! I'll replace with an AT&T as a backup to my Verizon. I've been in a number of boondockong places where both Verizon and Sprint were not working but neighbors with AT&T had service.
Cellular hotspots are great, but expensive and I like to save data for when I really need it. Using WiFi as much as I can keeps my monthly data use down to 3-4g which is affordable.
I don't stream video as I use alot of Over The Air TV which I find more than acceptable. I download movies for night viewing while on a good Xfinity WiFi feed.
One other option I'm exploring is DISH networks "Sling" service. $20 a month and it will get me Netflicks and other services and cable channels.
T-Mobile also offers unlimited data for video with certain monthly fee pay for view services. But I'm concerned about T-Mobile service. Maybe I can try it for a few months.
I'm trying not to spend $200-$300 a month just for communication/entertainment services. There are a lot of other places I can spend $3600 a year!
Hope this helps!
