Depending on the program used to make the video or slide show, the pictures may not be on the CD in their original format. You may be looking for something that isn't there.
I've made about 30 videos of travels and group activities, some with other products before MovieMaker came out, many with movie maker. Some are strictly slide show, some mixing stills and video. Some I've further developed into multiple-video DVD-video.
All of these, the product is a video file (AVI, WMV, MPG) and the original picture files aren't there. The video file can in some be imported into a video editor, as a source file to a new project, or to cut someting out of it, but that doesn't mean I have the originals, for those I have to go back to me project folder where editingand video burning instructions are stored, along with locations or original or intermediate media files.
Insome cases, particularly when writing VCDs or DVDs for players, the editing program writes files that it cannot bring in as source material.
There are other slide show programs that do save the pictures, along with instructions for player them, but the pictures might be a reduced size.
I just don't know what you used originally.
