Improved FM radio signal

Over the years my Audiovox AM/FM/CD player had become almost useless. The CD player skips and cleaning hasn't helped it. Rarely got more than a couple FM stations any more. I recently pulled it out to check the antenna connection for radio and discovered it had terminals for an 300 ohm antenna.

Cutting to the chase, connecting a cheap 300 ohm antenna and just stringing it through the cabinets brought in a dozen clear stations. I don't know why the auto antenna on top had gone bad but it isn't worth messing with. I may still replace the whole system to be able to play CDs and USB storage.

  • mine did that on my sandpiper I had. I found the solder in the metal plug in came loose and I had no connection between the radio and the antenna. I slipped in a few pieces of solder and heated it up and got my stations back.
