The Netgear Zing is a cellular hotspot (aka MIFI), cellular on the carrier side and WiFi on your side. It is just a cell phone that you cannot make calls on that shares out its data connection to the cell tower. They work in the cradle based cellular amplifiers just like a cell phone.
